This is Ruud, our cheerful Voorman Production employee. Ruud originally comes from the agricultural sector, but a few years ago he started looking for work that better suited him and his personal situation. That is how he ended Legro up as a Loader Machinist. Now he not only knows our raw materials and production inside out, but has also taken a big step forward: nowadays Ruud is Voorman Production. So sitting still is out of the question. Fortunately, that doesn’t suit him so well.
As Foreman, I work with the team to ensure that the work in production continues smoothly and safely. I keep an overview of what needs to be done, divide up the tasks, and coordinate with colleagues and other departments. If something doesn’t go as planned, we work together to resolve it as quickly as possible. But I certainly don’t just stand on the sidelines. I also help out whenever I can. Since I started as a Loader Machinist myself, I am familiar with the work and the materials involved. That helps enormously. You know what’s going on in the workplace and what colleagues might encounter. That combination is what I particularly like: being actively involved in the product while also ensuring that the team can work well and that the schedule is met. Ultimately, we have to do it together.
When I leave home feeling good and my colleagues and the customer are satisfied. Of course, sometimes things will go differently than planned. That’s part of the job. What matters most to me is how we deal with it afterwards. When Legro helping, we support each other and work together to find a solution. When we can say at the end of the day that the work was done well and everyone can move forward, then I am satisfied.
For me, it was a great opportunity to further develop myself. As a Loader Machinist, I had already been involved a lot with our products and raw materials. As a Foreman, I now have a lot more responsibility. You no longer just look at your own work, but at the bigger picture. What needs to happen today? Who is taking on what tasks? Where do we need to make adjustments? And how do we ensure that everyone can do their work safely and comfortably? That makes my work more challenging in a different way.
Especially because it’s just a nice company with a great atmosphere. We work hard, but there’s also plenty of room for fun. We regularly organize parties, activities, and BBQs, and I always try to be there for that! Additionally, I think the balance between work and private life is important here. It’s well-organized here, and both my family and I are happy about that. And if you want to grow, there are also opportunities for that. That’s actually a good example of what I’m talking about.
