This is Guido, our Team Leader for ICT. Together with his team, he ensures that our applications do what they are supposed to do and that colleagues have access to the systems they need. That’s handy. In addition, together with Process Development, he is involved in internal training and acts as the link between the organization, users, and our external ICT partners. A wide range of tasks, in other words. Fortunately, Guido doesn’t lose his cool very often. And a healthy dose of humor also helps of course.
As Team Leader ICT, I lead the team and ensure that our work is communicated to Sjellie, our CFO. In addition, within the organization, I am the point of contact for virtually everything related to ICT. From questions from colleagues to contact with our external ICT partners. That makes my work very broad and varied.
Within the team, we also have a Technical IT Specialist. He or she is responsible for the technical foundation of our IT environment. This includes day-to-day management, incidents in the second or third line, and the further development of our technical architecture.
And then we have our Workplace Manager. He is responsible for managing the workplaces, among other things, but in reality that job title falls short of the job. If there is a problem with the network or, for example, a fault with a weighing bridge, you want to fix it too. That is actually what characterizes our team: you all have your own responsibilities, but in the end we all work together to get things done. No two days are the same.
We are, like the rest of the team Legro, very open to each other. That’s also necessary when you work so closely together. At the same time, we work a lot with external ICT partners. We partly outsource the real specialist ICT work. This means that we don’t have to be behind the keyboard all day, but are instead very much involved in connecting ICT with the organization.
In that context, we work closely with colleagues from Process Development. They are closely involved in the day-to-day processes and know exactly what is needed from the organization. Together, we then look at how we can technically implement that.
What I personally like about Legro it is the short lines. Do you have an idea? Throw it into the group. There’s no right or wrong right away and everyone can give their opinion. You’re heard and you can easily walk in and out of the group. That just works really well.
I was looking for a challenging job and I definitely found it here. I am quite organized myself, but you never Legro know exactly how your day will go. You can have a nice plan in the morning and an hour later there is a disruption or someone comes in with an idea that we need to work on quickly. That sometimes requires some switching gears, but that’s what I like. It keeps you sharp and ensures that no day is the same. My work is just really broad.
Actually almost always, haha! But without getting too technical: when we had a nice day and were able to help colleagues. Of course, ideally without any disruptions.
Actually, in the field of ICT, the best day is when we can sit down with our legs on the table. Then everything works, no one needs us, and we have done our work well. Only in practice this doesn’t happen very often. 😉
